In this work, I’m depicting sensory impressions of what I see while letting myself become absorbed in the blank page. The work is untitled because to name it would be to name the totality of my perceptions while making it. This would be too limiting.

A name I’ve created for this approach is Neuroimpressionism. This mode of making art is inspired by attempting to have a response to the idea of Al Art being able to replace artists. Using perceptual and neurological impressions, I capture my Neurodiversity and Disability in tangible form. This encourages the origin of the art to be part of the art of itself. The point isn’t necessarily formalism, but the person(s) making the mark, while unifying conceptual, abstract, and representational art.

When taking up the task of “documenting” my sensory impressions, I am tracing the marks I see forming in the tension of free space –something between stillness and movement, documented as perceived.

The forms reveal themselves to me, appearing from a shimmering substance I see that is always around. They vibrate. Pulse. Move. It is my job to depict them as they are seen, making still the movement of thought.
